Ten FAQ’s about my soft pastel portraits!

I absolutely understand that commissioning a soft pastel pet portrait can be a huge step. I’m here to provide you with a glimpse into my process and answer some of the most frequently asked questions that my clients have. I hope you find it helpful!

Q1: What is the process of commissioning a soft pastel pet portrait?

A: Commissioning a portrait is quite a simple process! You can start by contacting me through my email - info@bbart.co.nz. We'll discuss your vision, size preferences, and any specific details you'd like to include. After that, you’ll pay a 50% deposit to secure the booking and I will work my magic within the next 4 -6 weeks! The balance is due before I deliver your work to you (P.S. If you sign up to my VIP mailing list, you’ll receive free framing before I send it to you too!).

Q2: How long does it take to complete a portrait?

A: On average, a portrait will take 3-6 weeks for me to complete, from initial discussion to final artwork. I will be in touch throughout so that you know when I have you on my schedule. There are some cases where I can shuffle other bookings around if you do need it sooner.

Q3: Can I choose the size and composition of the portrait?

A: Absolutely! I offer a range of sizes to suit your preferences, from the intimate mini 5-inch square to the striking 16" x 20". You can also choose whether you'd like a head and shoulders composition or a more elaborate depiction that captures the full essence of your pet.

Q4: Can I include multiple animals in one portrait?

A: Yes, you can! I can create portraits with multiple animals and/or people, although for anything more than 2 subjects I need to move to the larger size canvas’. I can also merge different photos together so that you can get the perfect image of each subject.

Q5: What reference materials do you need from me?

A: To get the best drawings I require high-quality reference photos of your pet that showcase their unique features and personality. The better the reference photo, the more accurate and expressive the final portrait will be. If you’re unsure if your photos will work, simply email me for a no-obligation chat! (info@bbart.co.nz)

Q6: What kind of subjects do you create portraits of?

A: While my specialty is pet portraits, I’m equally skilled at creating soft pastel portraits of people as well. Whether it's your furry friend, a family member, or a beloved couple, I’m here to capture their essence in art.

Q7: Can I choose a background for the portrait?

A: Absolutely! We can discuss various background options during our consultation. Whether you prefer a simple backdrop that focuses on the subject or a more intricate setting that complements their personality, the choice is yours.

Q8: Do you offer framing services?

A: Yes! I have simple framing options available for all sizes, and if you are on my mailing list you get this FREE!

Q9: How do I place an order for a soft pastel pet portrait?

A: To place an order, simply email me a photo of your pet to info@bbart.co.nz. I’ll discuss your preferences, answer any questions you have, and guide you through the process step by step.

Q10: What sets your soft pastel pet portraits apart?

A: With over 20 years experience as an artist and an avid animal lover, my portraits are infused with passion, dedication, and attention to detail. I aim to capture not just the physical likeness, but also the personality and emotions that make each pet unique. My commitment to artistry and perfectionism ensures that your portrait is a true work of heart.
