Why do I create art?

I’ve been really lucky lately to have more time to explore my own original artworks this year (alongside my portrait commissions) and this has been extremely exciting and also thought provoking.

I’m starting to think more about why I create art and what it is I’m trying to say in my pieces.

As an artist, I'm all about capturing those moments that make life beautiful, whether it's in a commissioned portrait or an original piece where I’ve caught a snapshot in my own life.

You know that feeling when you see something so breathtakingly beautiful that you just don’t want that moment to end? That's what drives me to create art. Whether it's the way sunlight filters through autumn leaves or the way a loved one's eyes light up when they smile, I'm so passionate about capturing those moments and creating something that makes time stand still. With my portraits, I aim to portray the uniqueness of each individual, celebrating the little quirks and nuances that make them who they are.

Life is full of moments that speed by way too fast, if only we could press pause and really notice every detail. That's why I'm all about finding those little moments of magic in the everyday hustle and bustle. Whether it's the way shadows sit below a flowers petals or the quiet stillness of the steam above my morning coffee, there's beauty to be found everywhere you look. I have the privilege of capturing those everyday moments that we all experience, and preserving them forever.

Whether it's a shared laugh between friends or the fleeting beauty of a wilting flower, there's something truly magical about capturing those moments and holding onto them forever. With my portraits, I have the honor of immortalizing those special moments in a tangible form, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

At the end of the day, I love to make people stop and wonder. Whether it's through a commissioned portrait or an original piece of art, I want to spark something inside you that makes you see the world in a new light. I aim to capture the essence of each individual in a way that resonates deeply with both the subject and the viewer.

Whether it's through my portraits or my original art, my goal as an artist remains the same: to capture the beauty of that moment, in all its many forms. To freeze moments in time, preserving them for eternity.

Each piece I create is a labour of love, infused with my passion for details and colours. So here's to the beauty of the moment – may we never stop finding reasons to celebrate it together.

Tell me, what beauty have you noticed in the moment today?
